About Sandor Ellix Katz
Sandor Ellix Katz was born in 1962. He is a food writer and do-it-yourself food activist who lives in rural Tennessee and taught himself his craft. He has taught fermentation workshops. His books include Wild Fermentation (2003), The Revolution Will Not Be Microwaved, and The Art of Fermentation (2012). The Art of Fermentation won a James Beard award in 2013. In 2014 the Southern Foodways Alliance gave him its Craig Claiborne Lifetime Achievement Award.
