About Scott Adams
Scott Adams was born in Windham, New York, on June 8, 1957. He earned an economics degree from Hartwick College in 1979 and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1986. He held various corporate jobs, created Dilbert in 1989, and became a full-time cartoonist in 1995. He was also a trained hypnotist and a co-founder of Whenhub. Alongside the strip, Adams wrote nonfiction on business, self-improvement and commentary, as well as the novella God's Debris (2001). His books include How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, along with Loserthink (2019). From the mid-2010s he also worked as an independent commentator on events and politics. In 2023 many newspapers dropped Dilbert after controversial remarks he made online, and he relaunched it as a webcomic on Locals. Adams was 68 when he passed away on 13 January 2026.
