About Tim Read
Read studied neuroscience and medicine, then spent 20 years at the Royal London Hospital, where he headed psychiatric emergency and crisis intervention services. He later became involved in clinical research on therapeutic uses of psychedelics at King's College and Imperial College London. He completed training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and studied transpersonal psychology under Stanislav Grof. He is also a certified Holotropic Breathwork facilitator. Read wrote Walking Shadows and co-edited Breaking Open with Jules Evans. With Maria Papaspyrou, he co-directs the Institute of Psychedelic Therapy in the UK. The two co-edited Psychedelics and Psychotherapy, published in 2021.
