About Niall Ferguson
Niall Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1964. He is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and has previously taught at Harvard University, the London School of Economics and New York University. In 2024 he was knighted for services to literature. His books in our catalog include Civilization, Empire, The Ascent of Money and The Square and the Tower. The Ascent of Money was turned into a television series, which received an International Emmy in the documentary category in 2009. Civilization was adapted as a documentary series too. The Square and the Tower, published in 2018, covers networks of power from the Freemasons to Facebook. Ferguson also writes opinion columns, and in 2021 he became a co-founder of the University of Austin.
