About Steven R. Gundry

Steven R. Gundry is an American physician who trained and worked as a heart surgeon. He later turned to writing about diet, and his books include The Plant Paradox and The Longevity Paradox. As a surgeon he was Professor and Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Working alongside his colleague Leonard Bailey, he helped lead the way in heart transplants for babies and children. Later he set up a clinic in Santa Barbara and Palm Springs, California, called the International Heart and Lung Institute and Center of Restorative Medicine. His lectin-free diet is controversial. Scientists and dietitians have disputed his claims about lectins and classed them as pseudoscience.
